What to cook this summer....

I recently went on a beautiful day adventure through Chuckanut Drive.  If you have never been there, I highly recommend it.  Grab your blanket and go; on the way you can stop by two very small but cute towns of Edison and Bow, pick up handmade cheese, freshly baked bread (most wonderful bakery in Edison), fresh oysters and clams from Taylor Shellfish Farm in Bow and enjoy it all on the beach at Larrabee State Park...... What fun! I picked up extra fresh clams and was looking for a way to prepare them to go with Off The Hook Rose.  Settled for Ina Garten's Grilled Clams with Basil Breadcrumbs.  It was yummy and just perfect.  For the recipe click HERE.  ...

latest things...

Owning a small business, being one woman show…..it's a challenge, on so many levels.  Support from others is key and I am so fortunate to have great family, friends and customers!  For a while now, I was trying to come up with a creative way of "supporting" my wine venture and continue being a sole owner of my business. Winning the lottery was one idea but that is not working very well ;)  Utilizing my other "talents" would have to do.  As many of you know, I love art, painting and being creative. Welcome to the latest things by Kasia.   I am starting with cool T-shirts and greeting cards that feature my art pieces with many more products in the works...

Everyone asks why "Open Highway"?  Naming a wine is a fun and tough job.  I went back and forth with many different names that would work for my wine and my brand just to realize that best way to make it "fit" me is to pick something that speaks to me :) Open Highway is part of one of my favorite songs by Bon Jovi, "It's my life"  It's my lifeIt's now or neverI ain't gonna live foreverI just want to live while I'm alive(It's my life)My heart is like an open highway Those five lines explain it perfectly... I also see Open Highway as the freedom to do and go anywhere. The road is open, you can go as...

Corks are in!

Corks are in!  Doing my happy dance! Another step closer to being ready for my Syrah bottling in a couple of weeks.  It has been quite a process with selecting, designing, and keeping my fingers crossed that it will come out good. They had a long trip all the way from Portugal which is one of the largest cork producers in the world.  Cork is just another name for the bark of an oak tree known as Cork Oak (the trees are so valuable its illegal in Portugal to cut them down).  The cork is harvested by stripping the bark off the tree.  Good news - it doesn't hurt the tree and in 9 years the bark is regrown and...
